"Tidawhitney Lek (b. 1992, lives and works in Los Angeles) is a Cambodian-American painter from Long Beach, California. Her work in paint as well as print underlines a narrative of first-generational experiences haunted by traumas of war past. Disembodied body parts, especially hands, play a prominent role in her compositions, symbolizing invisible forces and the lingering echoes of violence stemming from the Khmer Rouge era. Lek graduated with her BFA from Cal State University of Long Beach. Her work has been exhibited at Sow & Tailor, Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, the Armory, and at K11 Musea in Hong Kong. Upcoming for the year 2023 is Made In LA at the Hammer Museum and her first solo museum at the Long Beach Museum of Art."
