I added custom gun grips like those used by criminal organizations in Mexico: images of Santa Muerte, Jesús Malverde, or even cartoons are part of the repertoire. These gun grips were obtained on the black market.
My interest is to be provocative with these devices by fusing innocence and violence and rubbing salt in the wound on issues such as access to, control of, and weapons trafficking; the influence and normalization of violence by the media; and the human appetite for the use of force and abuse of power.
The title of the project refers to the popular Hispanic saying “juego de manos es de villanos,” which literally means “hands game, villain game” and is usually applied when kids don’t understand the consequences of playing rough, which can escalate to physical violence. These toys are somehow inoffensive but wicked at the same time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/7750/3062/files/69A1CB7B-275E-45C9-96B6-3DFB15C96198.jpg?v=1786557592
