"As a kid I was kept in the confines of my front yard, all my friends were dudes and they’d always hang out at my house skating off the curb. I always felt confined to the edge of my block, the edge of the front lawn, the edge of access to the other side. As an adult, I don’t listen to societal edges anymore. Edges feign protection, when really it’s the semblance of control—not safety. I can take back my agency and choice like they did when we were kids."
