Mold-Breaker, 2025
oil on canvas
11" x 14"
"Many of my queer artist friends and I tend to depict ourselves as nonhuman creatures, taking ownership of the idea that being queer is not natural and in the process creating a persona that is closer to nature because of its animalistic form. It is cathartic and comforting to imagine monsters like guardian angels protecting us from harm, and this piece is a prayer of protection for my queer friends who repeatedly choose to fight against death and despair."
Artwork was sold during the exhibition.
